Biography
Jens N. Sørensen is Professor of Fluid Mechanics and Head of Section at the Wind Energy Department at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He received his Ph.D. degree from the Technical University of Denmark in 1986 on the development of a method for computing boundary layers on rotating wings. After a post-doc at ONERA in France he became faculty member at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at DTU in 1989. He has been a full professor since 2002 and in 2012 he moved to the newly established Department of Wind Energy. His research interests include Aerodynamics and Aero-acoustics of Wind Turbines, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Vortex Flows and Bio Fluid Mechanics. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, with about 7000 citations and an h-index of 40 on ISI WoS. He is recipient of the Gorm-Petersen Memorial Grant Award (1987), Alexander Foss’ Gold Medal Award (1999), the Statoil Prize for engineering research (2002) and the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE) Scientific Prize (2015).
